My Family – Our Family – The Family
Gathering Families Together (World Meeting of Families 2018
– Parish Preparation)
I want to thank the 48 people from the parish
who represented us so well at last weekend’s Diocesan Conference for the World Meeting
of Families [WMF]. Buncrana was by far the best represented parish from throughout
the diocese.
In foot of the high level of interest expressed
at the Church Doors two weekends ago regarding our parish preparation for the WMF,
this series of meetings will begin on Wednesday 21 February at 8.00pm in the Inishowen
Gateway Hotel. I want to thank the hotel for the kind offer of their facilities.
As was mentioned before, participants in these
gatherings, together with those who represented us at last weekend’s conference,
will be given first option on tickets/passes for the World Meeting of Families and
the Pope’s visit to Ireland.
Whether or not you indicated your interest
in these meetings, please consider attending them – we can facilitate around 300
attendees. ‘Family’ is such an important part of this parish – large families and
connections, younger people now overseas and whom we can never forget, huge numbers
of children in our schools, the elderly who give us good example – in short, ‘Family’
is important. Father Bradley
Ash Wednesday
A gentle reminder that Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday on 14
February. While it is Also St Valentine’s day, we must remember that there are only

Mission Appeal
Next week-end, the annual Mission Appeal will
take place in our parish, made by the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the
Assumption. They would greatly appreciate any support you can give to their missionary
work among some of the poorest people of today’s world, particularly in Latin America.

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
naught be all else to me save that thou art;
thou my best thought in the day and the night
,waking or sleeping thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom be thou my true word
I ever with thee and thou with me Lord;
thou my great Father and I thy true son;
thou with me dwelling and I with thee one.
Communion
I the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry all who dwell in dark and sin my hand
will save.
I who made the stars of night, I will make their
darkness bright who will bear my light to them whom shall I send?
Here I am Lord is it I Lord, I have heard you
calling in the night. I will go Lord if you lead me, I will hold your people in
my heart.
I the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my
peoples pain, I have wept for love of them they turn away. I will break their hearts
of stone give them hearts for love alone I will speak my words to them whom shall
I send?
I the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the
poor and lame. I will set a feast for them my hand will save. Finest bread I will
provide til their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them whom shall I
send?
Father we adore you lay our lives before you, how we love you. Jesus we adore you lay our
loves before you how we love you. Spirit we adore you lay our lives before you.
how we love you.
O Lord my God when I in awesome wonder, consider all the works thy hand has made. I see
the stars I hear the rolling thunder, thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul my Saviour God to thee, how great thou art.
Readings for this week
Lev 13:1-2, 44-46. Leprosy was a frightful disease. But it also caused one to be
cut off from society, forced to live apart, to be regarded as physically and spiritually
unwelcome. There was to be a structured approach to being re-accepted.
Ps 31:1-2, 5, 11, R/ v 7. The joy of being re-integrated.
1 Cor 10:31-11:1. In Corinth the meat from sacrifices to false Gods was often sold
in butcher’s shops. St Paul assures his converts that they need not be worried about
buying and eating it. He warns against giving scandal to a non-believer who might
think that Christians accepted such sacrifices“ as amounting to anything.”
Mk 1:40-45.
Last week’s collection was €4,798
