Readings for this Week

Ex 24: 3-8. It is 1250 BC. After the escape from slavery in Egypt and the giving of the 10 commandments the patriarch Moses offers a big sacrifice of animals and makes covenant in their blood between God and his Chosen People. It would stand for over 1000 years. It centres on Israel's receiving God's help in coming into possession of a homeland and on Israel's part the keeping the Commandments. It includes no mention of eternal life, grace or of the Holy Spirit, just he promise of survival as a people in a very dangerous world.

Ps 115: 12-13: When St Paul pens this letter to his fellow Jews 1300 years have passed. He explains how Jesus has replaced the great Mosaic blood covenant with infinitely superior New Covenant in Jesus' own blood. It provides for both the personal sanctification and eternal salvation of everyone who worthily participates.

Mk 14: 12-16, 22:26 Although sadly ignored by many in our secular society Jesus has left for us the sacrament of the Mass as our place and time to regularly renew the everlasting Covenant between God and his chosen people. This New Covenant has been signed and sealed in Jesus' own blood. "The cup of salvation I will raise." "If you love me keep my commandments."

Last week’s collection was €4,970

Official Family Prayer for World Meeting of Families 2018

God, our Father,

We are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son,

One family, in the Spirit of your love.

Bless us with the joy of love.

Make us patient and kind,

gentle and generous,

welcoming to those in need.

Help us to live your forgiveness and peace.

Protect all families with your loving care,

Especially those for whom we now pray:

[We pause and remember family members and others by name].

Increase our faith,

Strengthen our hope,

Keep us safe in your love,

Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share.

This we ask, through Christ our Lord,

Amen

Mary, mother and guide, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, father and protector, pray for us.

Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us.

Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, pray for us.

Corpus Christi Procession

Today we will have the annual Corpus Christi Procession. It will begin from St Mary’s Oratory at 3pm and proceed along St Mary’s Road via the Westend to Main street and make its way back to the Oratory again.

The procession will last one hour. All are welcome to attend.

Together with their families, the children who made their First Holy Communion this year are especially encouraged to attend, wearing their First Communion clothes. Each child is asked to bring a little posy of flowers, particularly wild flowers, which they will carry with them in the procession. Their parents are asked to accompany them.

This is a beautiful tradition which we would like to uphold.

Ice-Cream Sundae

As a little treat for everyone - for we are all children at heart - whipped ice-cream is available for everyone as you leave the church today. Just a little treat to thank you for your support and encouragement throughout the year

Congratulations

Congratulations to the children from the parish who travelled to the Aviva on Wednesday to take part in the Spar FAI Primary School National 5 A side football championship and in particular to the Scoil Iosagain Girls who are the All Ireland Champions, we also congratulate especially Jodie Loughery one of our Altar Servers who won player of the tournament.

Pledge Mass For Young People Recently Confirmed

In congratulating the children of 6th Class in our parish schools, I am inviting them to attend Mass in St Mary’s Church, Cockhill on Wednesday 13 June at 7.30pm. During next past week, Pledge Prayer Cards will be circulated to all classes and the importance of the Pledge will be explained. I will write to parents inviting them to support their young people in this way and to attend the Mass. The young people will sign the Pledge, their parents will counter-sign it and then, during the Mass, I will seal each card. Please support our young people by praying for them at this time.

Father Bradley

Take our bread

Take our bread we ask you , Take our hearts we love you, Take our lives Oh Father, We are yours we are yours.

Yours as we stand at the table you set

yours as we eat the bread our hearts can't forget. We are the signs of your life with us yet we are yours we are yours.

I am the bread of life

I am the bread of life you who come to me shall not hunger and who believe in me shall not thirst, No one can come to me unless the Father beckon

Refrain:

And I will raise you up (3) on the last day.

The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world and if you eat of this bread you shall live for ever you shall live for ever.

Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of his blood and drink of his blood you shall not have life within you.

I am the Resurrection I am the life

if you believe in me even though you die you shall live forever.

Yes Lord I believe that you are the Christ the Son of God who have come into the world.

Eat this bread.

Eat this bread drink this cup come to me and never be hungry. Eat this bread drink this cup trust in me and you shall not thirst. I am the bread of life the true bread sent from the Father.
