Praise my Soul

Praise my soul the King of Heaven,

to His feet your tribute bring;

ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven;

who am I his praise to sing?

Praise Him, Praise Him, Praise Him Praise Him, Praise the everlasting King.

Christ be our light.

Christ be our light, shine in our hearts,

shine through the darkness.

Christ be our light shine in your Church gathered today.

Longing for light, we wait in darkness;

longing for truth, we turn to you;

make us your own, your holy people,

light for the world to see. Chorus:

Longing for peace, our world is troubled;

longing for hope, many despair;

your Word alone, has power to save us;

make us your living voice. Chorus:

Longing for food, many are hungry;

longing for water, many still thirst;

make us your bread, broken for others,

shared until all are fed. Chorus:

Open my eyes Lord.

Open my eyes Lord, I want to see Jesus;

to reach out and touch Him, and tell Him I love Him. Open my ears Lord and help me to listen; open my eyes Lord, I want to see Jesus.

How great Thou art.

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the works thy hand hast made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the Universe displayed. Then sings my soul my Saviour God to Thee, How great thou art (3)

Readings for 11th Sunday in ordinary time

Ez 17:22-24. Ezekiel initiated a tradition of unworldly spirituality persisting through Judaism to emerge in the New Testament. Jesus would be the Good Shepherd foretold by Ezekiel, and would bring about worship in spirit rather than outward observance. He wrote at the time of the deportation to Babylon yet he predicted a pivotal role in world history for his people, very like Jesus’s metaphors for the Church in today’s gospel reading.

2 Cor 5:6-10. Every believer knows the tension of awaiting the full vision while they strive to please the Lord, in order to be found without reproach when they do finally meet the Lord.

Mk 4:26-34. Jesus is the Word of God. He is present in the world in the Holy Spirit, in the Eucharist and through his Church. Night and day, while people sleep or while they are awake, the seed of the word is sprouting and growing. Eventually the harvest will come. A mustard seed starts off about a millimetre in size. But like the Church it grows big enough for all-comers to shelter in it.

A Thought... Two lawyers living in New York had a brother who went to Europe... but the one who went to Europe did not have a brother. What relationship are the lawyers to him?

Mass in honour of Blessed Alexandrina will be held in Termonbacca on Sunday the 24th June at 7:30 pm. Everyone welcome.

Official Family Prayer for World Meeting of Families 2018

God, our Father,

We are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son,

One family, in the Spirit of your love.

Bless us with the joy of love.

Make us patient and kind,

gentle and generous,

welcoming to those in need.

Help us to live your forgiveness and peace.

Protect all families with your loving care,

Especially those for whom we now pray:

 [We pause and remember family members and others by name].

Increase our faith,

Strengthen our hope,

Keep us safe in your love,

Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share.

This we ask, through Christ our Lord,

Amen

Mary, mother and guide, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, father and protector, pray for us.

Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us.

Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, pray for us.
