Our Lady, Untier of Knots Novena will begin after 7.30 pm Mass on Thursday, 4th October and will continue for the following eight Thursdays finishing on Thursday, 29th November. Sometimes our lives may seem one big knot due to circumstances beyond our control when we face health problems. This Novena reminds us that sin never entangled Our Lady; that Christ gave His Mother to be our Mother, the Untier of Knots. We pray and entrust our specific “knots” to Her loving hands, learning how to let go of that which binds us.

Sister Aloysius Memorial Prize for Religious Art: Submissions for this prize will be exhibited in St Eugene’s Cathedral from Monday until Friday this week.

Beloved Disciples: An inspiring DVD course for the over 60’s will commence on Wednesday, 10th October after the 10.00 am Mass. Pope Francis has been reminding us that older people are a treasure.

The date of Baptism for the child will be confirmed at the Evening of Celebration.

Altar Server Training: St Eugene’s Cathedral will provide Altar Server training for children in Primary 5 to 7 on three consecutive Wednesday afternoons from 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm - Wednesday, 10th October; Wednesday, 17th October; Wednesday, 24th October. Participation in all three training sessions is necessary in order to be fully prepared. We ask the parents’ help in reinforcing that serving at the altar is both a privilege and a responsibility. Those interested must have a strong commitment to learning the ministry and to carrying out the ministry. Servers who were recently trained are welcome and encouraged to come for a refresher. WHY GO TO MASS?

When you were baptised you became a member of God’s family and we call that the Church. You might think the Church is just a building but the Church is also the name we give to the people who gather in the building. Without the people, the Church would be just another building. One of the most important things we do as part of God’s family is go to Mass.
