Visit of the Statue of Our Lady Of Fatima

On 11 January 2017, in what was the centenary year of the apparition of Our Lady at Fatima, Pope Francis blessed a number of pilgrim statues which have been travelling the world ever since. One of these statues will visit Inishowen, coming to Buncrana on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd January. The brief details of the visit are as follows:
St. Mary’s Church, Cockhill, Buncrana Tuesday 22nd January at 7.30pm - Welcoming Mass of Centennial Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, followed by Public Veneration and Exposition of Blessed Sacrament until 12 midnight. All are welcome to come and join in this time of prayer and reparation

St. Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana Wednesday 23rd January at 9.45am Talk will be given by Brother of Alliance of the Two Hearts on Fatima and Consecration of Family.

Mass 10.00am Consecration of Parish and Families to the Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary, followed by Enrolment in the Brown Scapular.

The initiative is being organised by the Association of the Two Hearts (The Sacred Heart of Jesus & The Immaculate Heart of Mary). This is a beautiful opportunity for prayer and the blessing of families and individuals (with the Blessing of the Brown Scapular) and the

consecration of the parish. All are welcome.

Pope Francis - A Man of His Word

There will be a showing of the documentary ‘Pope Francis - A Man of His Word’ in St Teresa’s Room (behind The Oratory) at 7.30pm on Thursday 24th January. This is a co-production with the Vatican that presents Pope Francis’ words & gestures in different parts of the world.

Parish Meeting for Couples Getting Married in 2019

I am inviting all couples from this parish or getting married in this parish during 2019 to a special meeting which will take place in The Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries on Sunday 10 February at 3pm.

This meeting is for the couples themselves and for their parents. While all couples from this parish, or getting married in this parish, are to undertake an Accord Marriage Preparation Course, it is intended that this additional meeting will further help them and their families prepare for the celebration of this Sacrament. (Where a couple are living overseas, it will be sufficient for their parents to attend.) Father Bradley

Readings for Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Is 62:1-5. This reading of 500 BC merits close attention. The exiles returning to a ruined Jerusalem are encouraged with the promise of 'integrity' and 'salvation', not of a return to riches and power. In the future they will be called by new names - 'the wedded' and 'God's delight'. God will rejoice in them as his bride? See now how for St John the marriage feast of Cana just had to be 'the first of the signs given by Jesus'.

Ps 95. "O sing a new song to the Lord'.

1 Cor 12:4-11. The Spirit is the source of many different gifts in the Church, but also of the deep unity of the people of God.

Last week’s collection
