The Crest and Moto of our
new Bishop:
The crest of our new bishop has three sections, and three background colours.
The white and black are a reference to Fr Larry’s native parish of Magheracloone,
while the white denotes his association and love of his native Monaghan. The Misai
shield and the two crossed spears represent his strong links with the diocese of
Kati in Kenya. The rowan berries and leaves are a tribute to St Macartan, the first
Bishop of Clogher. The bottom part of the shield shows an image of three stained
- glass windows, representing the beauty of God’s light, shining through the saints.
The new
Bishops chosen Motto is displayed below the shield – God is Love. This is taken
from the first letter of St John (1john4:16) which reads God is love and he who
abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. These words-- God is love –
express the heart of our Christian faith. Love is the fundamental dimension of our
relationship with God, and our lives as Christians.
ORDINATION OF BISHOP-ELECT
DUFFY: this
Sunday at 3.00pm in St Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan. You can watch the ordination
live via the web cam in the cathedral. This will be assessable from the home page
of www.clogherdiocese.ie or via hhps//www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/st macartan’s cathedral-monaghan.
(Google Crome is the best browser to use for this) Updates on the Liturgy will also
be provided through diocese Facebook, twitter and Instagram.
Fr John will be absent from the Parish
from Sunday evening 17th February 2019 until Saturday Evening 23rd February 2019.
The Friday Evening Mass on 22nd will be celebrated by one of the Priests in Enniskillen.
Eucharistic Devotion: The response to the call
from the Diocesan Eucharistic Devotion Team was very generous in the parish. It
was very uplifting for us. However we need more people to fill in the hours after
1.00pm. If anyone would like to spend one hour during the hours 1-2pm, 3-4pm, 5-6pm
please give your name to any of the committee, or drop your name in with Fr John.
Parish Envelopes: It is nearing the time of
year to update our records for the New Year beginning in April 2019. If you are
new to the parish or have not received a box of parish envelopes in the past and
would like to do so, please hand in your name. We will hold a meeting to update
our Envelope list for the New Year on Tuesday 26 February at 8.00pm. We would invite
Parishioners from different areas of the Parish to come along to this Meeting.
