The Ordination of Bishop

Church of Ireland- Bishop of Clogher on behalf of other Christian
denominations. Fr Sean Mulligan,

from the Diocese of Kitui, Fr Laurence Duffy S.M., a cousin of the new Bishop, representing the
great tradition of priests coming from families across our diocese. Sister
Pauline Haughian S.S. L Carrickmacross, representing the religious
congregations who minister in the Diocese of Clogher. Veronica Baird, Chairperson
of the parish together group in Ederney (Cuil Maine) parish representing
Pastoral Councils across the diocese of Clogher. Three generations of the Hagan

Clogher. Frances and Jo McDonald, Castleblaney representing those with
special needs and those who care for them Jacqueline Sultan from St
Patricks Accommodation Centre in Monaghan representing migrants and refugees. Deirdre
Boyle, Adrumsee, Chairperson of Diocesan Safeguarding Committee,

church communities are safe and caring invironments for children and adults
alike.
The Laying on of Hands
and the Prayer of Ordination was yet another moving moment in the Ordination
Ceremony: Here the Open Book of the Gospels
was placed upon the head of the Bishop Elect: The two assisting
priests standing at either side hold the
Book of the Gospels above his head until
the end of the prayer of Ordination. The principal consecrator-Arch Bishop
Martin prayed the prayer of ordination.
Safeguarding Sunday: is marked in all
parishes of our diocese as the gathering in Rome on safeguarding, hosted by
Pope Francis, draws to a conclusion. We
invite you to join us as we bless and dedicate a new “Candle of Atonement” in
each of our churches. This Candle will
be a reminder of the need for atonement.
It will symbolise repentance, light in the darkness and hope. A representative of your Parish Safeguarding
Committee will speak at Masses today on the work being done at all levels in
the Church to ensure that our communities are safe places for all.
