We are an Easter People

Whatever the challenges we face, whatever the joys we share, Easter is the time of year that reminds us who we are. The challenge is to make sure that there is the breath of the Resurrection in everything we do and say; the joy is that we look forward every day to new life and new hope.

We thank all of you for your great commitment to so many things in the parish, particularly your fidelity to Lent and Holy Week, to the Prayer Pathway and to the Ceremonies. The Good News of the Gospel promises us hope and gives us encouragement. These are the Easter gifts we are to share with one another.

Happy Easter to everyone.

Father Bradley & Father Walsh

An Easter Thought

An Easter Egg Hunt is proof positive that your child can find things when they really want to.

Readings for Easter Sunday

Acts 10: 34, 37-43. If we believe in Christ today it is because of the Apostles’ personal experience of Jesus and their subsequent courageous testimony as to what he achieved. The Gospel has reached this generation through over 60 faithful previous ones.

Ps 117:1-2, 16-17, 22-23, R/ v 24. If ever there was cause for joy this is it.

Col 3:1-4. “Since you have been brought back to true life with Christ, you must look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is…” We should be looking forward not backwards. If therefore the conversation of baptised Christians is only rarely about heavenly things they should take stock.

Sequence: ‘Death with life contended: combat strangely ended!’

Jn 20: 1-9. John the beloved was first to realize that Jesus had indeed risen from the dead as the scriptures had foretold. John’s faith, hope and charity were burning brightly. Where death once reigned love now ruled forever more!
