Diamond Jubilee Of Sister Eveleen Hallahan IBVM
It is
a great honour that we as a Parish can mark and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of
Sister Eveleen Hallahan’s Religious Profession in the Institute of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, better known as the Loreto Sisters. Sister Eveleen has been resident in this
parish for many years and enhances the life of the parish in so many ways. We thank
her for her great contribution to the music and singing both in St Mary’s Oratory
and in Star of the Sea Church, Desertegney; for her service as a prayer guide and
for accompanying residents in the Buncrana Nursing Unit each week.
Sixty
years as a Religious Sister is a great milestone. We wish her many more years of
health and happiness here amongst us.
A special
Mass will take place in Desertegney on Thursday evening at 7pm, with
tea and refreshments afterwards in Desertegney Hall. Everyone is very welcome to
attend to show our appreciation and support.

40-Hours Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The Annual
40-Hours Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in St Mary’s Church,
Cockhill, this weekend beginning on Sunday at 12 noon until 7pm; and
recommencing Monday 30th September from 11am with Benediction & Divine Mercy
Devotions at 6.45pm. A time-sheet is available this coming week in St Mary’s Church
Cockhill by which we can commit ourselves to at least a ½ hour slot during the Adoration.
It is my hope that many people will avail of this special opportunity for prayer.
