Happy New Year 2020
We want to wish all of you, as the parishioners of Desertegney
& Lower Fahan (Buncrana), a very happy and peaceful New Year. We thank you for
your many kindnesses to us and to others throughout 2019, especially your generosity
to the Christmas Collection for us as your priests and your on-going generosity
to the many good causes which you are asked to support. Your help and cooperation
are always appreciated by all those who benefit from them. The support you offer
gives credible witness to what makes this parish live. It is a tradition which has
been passed down over many generations – and it seems to be being passed on very
well in our own time. One of the highlights of 2019 was the Parish Garden Fête in
August. It brought us together as a parish family and warmed our hearts with nostalgia
for past Fêtes and inspired us to prepare to repeat this lovely experience again.
We also welcomed Father Neil McGoldrick to live in Desertegney. May he have many
happy years amongst us. 2020 will bring new challenges, new opportunities and new
blessings. As its name suggests that we’ll have to keep in clear sight the things
of God, asking that his blessings of health and contentment on us all may be many.

Rosary for Priests
Please come and join us in our Rosary to pray for Vocations
to the Priesthood and Religious life. Three Rosaries are prayed each Tuesday between
1pm & 2pm in the Adoration Chapel. The Holy Face chaplet will be said after

DVD – “A Little Piece of Heaven”
The long-awaited DVD entitled
“A Little Piece of Heaven” is on sale. It is a professionally produced DVD covering
the celebrations for the Golden Jubilee of Star of the Sea Church, Desertegney –
and much more besides: it captures footage of the people who attended that celebration
and also vintage footage going back many decades with a history of the parish and
its people. This is a great production – and a lovely gift suggestion for Christmas, especially for those living overseas
but whose roots are still deep in the heart of this parish. The DVD is priced €20
and are available form the following outlets: Parish Office, Doherty Clarks, Connie
Gill’s, Mac’s Newsagents, Cullen’s Shop, Supervalu & the 3 Sacristy’s. All proceeds
going to the Parish Building Fund.
