This year we are taking a pilgrimage to Italy with seven
nights in Umbria & two in Rome, the Pilgrimage will run from July 5-14.
Eight places are currently available on a first come, first served basis.

Parish Meeting for Couples Getting Married
in 2020
I am inviting all couples from this parish or
getting married in this parish during 2020 to a special meeting which will
take place in The Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries on Sunday 16 February at 3pm.
This meeting is for the couples themselves and for
their parents. While all couples from this parish, or getting married in this parish,
are to undertake an Accord Marriage Preparation Course, it is intended that this
additional meeting will further help them and their families prepare for the celebration
of this Sacrament. (Where a couple are living overseas, it will be sufficient for

Lenten Station Masses
During
Lent 2020, we will resume again our Station Masses throughout the parish. Stations
will be available on Monday and Tuesday evenings on the following dates: March 2nd
& 3rd, 23rd & 24th, 30 & 31st. If you wish to have a Station Mass please contact the Parish Office on 074

Readings for the Presentation of the Lord
Mal 3:1-4. Writing after the restoration of the Temple about 450 BC the Chosen People
had begun to forget their Covenant. Malachi looks forward ardently to the Messianic
era when the moral order and true religion will be restored.
Heb. 2:14-18. What a teacher was St Paul! Since Jesus is completely like us in nature he
makes the perfect High Priest, He both knows how we are tempted and is in a position
to offer the perfect sacrifice in atonement. And when he defeated death he defeated
it for all of us. He ‘set free all those who had been held in slavery all their
lives by the fear of death.’
Lk. 2:22-40. In the person of Simeon, the world’s old age welcomes into its arms the eternal
youth of God. But the shadow of the cross already looms, because the darkness will
refuse the light. So already, Mary, associated with her Son, introduces into the
temple the lamb of Sacrifice.’ (Glenstal Bible Missal).

One-Day Parish Retreat
A One-Day
Parish Retreat preached by Father Brendan McManus SJ and Jim Deeds will take place
on Saturday 7th March from 10am—5pm. You can register your willingness to attend
