Pilgrimage to Italy 2020

Umbria & Rome

This year we are taking a pilgrimage to Italy with seven nights in Umbria & two nights in Rome, July 5-14 2020.

Five places are currently available on a first come, first served basis. Cardinal Brady and three of us priests will be leading this Pilgrimage. Please contact the Parish Office for a Brochure, plus a Booking Form. Father Bradley

Welcome To The House Of The Father

Pope Francis has called on us in recent years to put the Sacrament of Confession “back at the centre of the Christian life.” In response to this, you and your family are invited to take part in a Lenten Family Programme, ’Welcome To The House Of The Father’, exploring and rediscovering the beauty of the sacrament: what it is, why we celebrate it and how we celebrate it. There will be five weekly sessions beginning on Thursday 5th March from 8pm-9:30pm in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel where we will gather as a family of faith to journey through the sacrament together. There will age-appropriate discussion and activities to enable the whole family to participate. There are 120 spaces available and booking is essential. To book spaces, please contact the Parish Office. There is no cost and tea/coffee provided.

Thanksgiving Parish Supper & Dance

This year again, the Parish will host a special Supper and Dance in The Inishowen Gateway Hotel on

Monday 16th March, the eve of St Patrick’s Day.

This dance is for anyone that helps out in anyway throughout the year.

Tickets are be available from the Parish Office.

One-Day Parish Lenten Retreat

A One-Day Parish Lenten Retreat preached by Father Brendan McManus SJ and Jim Deeds will take place on Saturday 7th March from 10am - 5pm. You can register your willingness to attend by contacting the Parish Office by phone, Facebook or email.

Readings for 7th Sunday in ordinary time

Lev 19:1-2, 17-18. Leviticus is one of the first five books of the Old Testament, referred to as the torah or the Law. Chapters 17-26 specify ‘the Law of Holiness’ and is drawn from very early oral tradition, some of it going back to the time of Abraham. The Law in God’s plan was ‘like a tutor or nursemaid protecting and leading his chosen people to Christ’, in whom God’s promises were fulfilled. ‘You take another’s sin upon yourself if you bear hatred for one who wronged you.’

1 Cor 3:16-23. A united community – God’s temple - can be destroyed if it is not based on the reality of God’s love for us revealed by Jesus’ death and resurrection. ‘God knows how useless men’s thoughts are…….You belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.’

Mt 5:38-48. The New Covenant made by God with us in Christ replaces the old one with its primary emphasis upon justice. Now ‘a man is really just only when he seeks more than mere justice……..he must find a power capable of neutralising the poison of injustice…….something strong enough and big enough – Christian love.’ “You must be perfect even as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Last week’s Priests Collection was €5,785. Sincere thanks
