Saints – Helping Us Today
A six-week DVD course called ‘Saints – Helping Us Today’
continues after 10am Mass on Wednesday mornings during Lent in St Teresa’s Room.
This will be an opportunity to learn more about the wisdom and teachings of particular
saints and how they can be of practical help to us today. Continues until Wednesday
8th April. Refreshments provided. To register please call Máire on 0867853726.
Welcome To The House Of The Father
Pope
Francis has called on us in recent years to put the Sacrament of Confession “back
at the centre of the Christian life.” In response to this, you and your family are
invited to take part in a Lenten Family Programme, ‘Welcome To The House Of The
Father’, exploring and rediscovering the beauty of the sacrament: what it is, why
we celebrate it and how we celebrate it. Continues each Thursday until 2nd April
from 8pm-9:30pm in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel where we will gather as a family
of faith to journey through the sacrament together. There are 120 spaces available
and booking is essential.
To book
spaces, please contact the Parish Office.
Thanksgiving Parish Supper & Dance
This year again, the Parish will host a special Supper
and Dance in
The Inishowen Gateway Hotel on
Monday 16th March, the eve of St Patrick’s Day at 8.00pm
This dance is for anyone that helps out in anyway throughout
the year.
Tickets are be available from the Parish Office.
Readings for 2nd Sunday of Lent
Gen 12:1-4. God’s great plan of salvation moved into gear when he called Abram (whose
name God later changed later to Abraham) out of present day Iraq (Mesopotamia).
This was about 1800 BC and Abram was elderly. “Leave your country.....for the land
I will show you....All the tribes of the earth shall bless themselves by you.” In
the pagan and violent world of his time Abraham commanded respect among his peers,
not least on account of his close relationship with his God Yahweh.
Ps: May your
love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in you.
2 Tim 1:8-10. Paul is here represented as counselling a newly appointed Church leader. The
reading contains an echo of the Transfiguration. On Jesus’s face, already threatened
by death’s shadow, was briefly to be seen the light of Easter. So like Jesus we
too must rely ‘upon the power of God who has called us to be holy.’
Last week’s collection was €4,605. The Ash Wednesday collection
for the Holy Land was €2,445. Sincere thanks
