2018 God, our Father, We are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son, One family, in the Spirit of your love. Bless us with the joy of love. Make us patient and kind, gentle and generous, welcoming to those in need. Help us to live your forgiveness and peace. Protect all families with your loving care, Especially those for whom we now pray: [We pause and remember
family members and others by name]. Increase our faith, Strengthen our hope, Keep us safe in your love, Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share. This we ask, through Christ our Lord, Amen Mary, mother and guide, pray for us. Saint Joseph, father and protector, pray for us. Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us. Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, pray for us. A gentle reminder In the areas in the cemeteries
that have been lawned since May 1989 restrictions are in place regarding the type
of memorial permitted. Within the graveyard areas no memorial may be erected without
the prior approval of the Parish Priest. Families of the deceased who contemplate
the erection of any monument or marker should first ascertain from the Parish Priest
whether same will be allowed before they close a contract for the erection of either.
Such approval can be sought only after a burial has taken place. The Parish reserves
the right to prohibit the erection of any monument, considered by the Parish Priest
as inappropriate either in material, workmanship, or location or which might interfere
with the general effect or obstruct any principal view of the cemeteries. The maximum
size of memorial permitted is 1.22metres (4 feet) in height above
ground level. An exception in the case exists where a Celtic Cross is permitted
once it does not exceed 2.44 metres (8 feet) in height. The only memorial stone
permitted in the graveyard is a headstone. Kerbstones, kneelers, surrounds, fences,
stones etc are not permitted (see below). Any memorial or other item that does not
conform to the above may be removed without notice. The person erecting the
headstone is responsible for the removal of all debris resulting from the work and
making good any damage done to turf, shrubbery, adjacent graves or plots, paths
or other cemetery features at their own expense. The Parish may prohibit
any contractor or workman from working in the cemeteries if such a contractor or
workman proves to be unreliable or incapable or if they refuse to abide by the rules
and regulations. Anyone wishing to continue to work in Cockhill and Desertegney
cemeteries must adhere to these rules. Excerpt from the Cemetery rules that can be found on our Parish Website Please also note:
In the lawned area of
the graveyard, no permission has been sought from or given by the Parish for the
erection of surrounds on graves. All such structures are illegal in the cemetery.
This includes ‘ground-level’ kerbing & surrounds. Last week’s collection was €5,185 Sincere Thanks Baptisms We welcome into God’s
family Khaleesi Nixon who was baptised recently.
Deaths Your Prayers are asked for Mary Porter, Willie Francis Kelly, Brian McGonagle, Bernard Bradley & Sr Lucy Gillespie who died recently and for their family & friends saddened
by their loss. Readings for 10th Sunday in ordinary time. Gn 3:9-15. The immediate result of
Adam and Eve’s disobedience is guilt and shame in the presence of God. The Devil
is cursed by God for his role in Adam and Eve’s downfall. Eve’s offspring, Mankind,
will endure continuous warfare with the Devil but one of Eve’s offspring will oppose
and vanquish him. Ps 129. A hymn to God’s mercy
and love for his creatures. 2 Cor 4:13 – 5:1. Paul’s
letter his apostolate apostolate continues. ‘The burden of bodily suffering and
even the prospect of death do not weaken Paul’s confidence. The apostle knows, with
certain faith, that life is not destroyed but transformed. The God of the living
could never deceive.’ Mk 3:20-35. Jesus does not compromise
with the scribes sent down from Jerusalem to discredit him. ‘To attribute to the
Evil One what in fact is the work of the Holy Spirit amounts to shutting oneself
off from divine grace and the forgiveness that flows from it. In its very nature
such an attitude makes salvation impossible.’ Divine Mercy Devotionswill take place on Monday 11th June at 6.45pm in Cockhill Chapel. Annual Blessing of Lilies on the Feast of St Anthony of Padua will take place on Wednesday
