today 1st July 2018 in St Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan at 3.00pm. You are invited
to come along. It is a very important day in our diocese. As you are now aware we
need new priests; we need many new priests. If we pray for vocations we will get
them. It is important therefore to pray for vocations to the priesthood. It is important
to pray also for those answering the call to the vocation of marriage. We also need
good families, good marriages, and good homes. If we have good homes we become very
special to God. We need to pray for one another, knowing that anything we ask for
with sincerity will be answered. Reminder: If someone would like to
become a reader of the Word of God on Sundays Please give your name to Geraldine.
If anyone would like to join the Parish Pastoral Council give your name to Geraldine. Holy Communion: If someone is unable to come
to Mass please contact the priest in the parish. Don’t contact a Eucharistic Minister.
The priest is responsible for Holy Communion in the parish. He was ordained to do
so, and he would be remiss in his responsibility if he didn’t take this duty serious.
If a relative would like to bring Holy Communion to a relative, please consult the
priest, and we can make arrange it. Holy Communion is the greatest gift given us
by God. We can never take his gift for granted. Communion is a public act of worship,
even when it is brought privately to a person in their home. Eucharistic Ministers
should spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament as often as possible. No
one is too busy to do so. Blessing of Graves: Bring a small bottle of
Holy Water with you for the blessing of the Graves. This is also a public event
in which all of us take apart and are seen to take part. Death: We pray for Charles Halton
(Uncle of Fr John) who’s Funeral Mass was celebrated in New York on Monday 25th
June 2018. May he live with God forever! World Meeting of Families: The Pobal Parish Council
are already preparing for the Parish Prayer Service which will be on Tuesday 21st
August 2018 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. This prayer service will
be on the first evening of the world meeting of families in Dublin. It will also
be our welcome to Pope Francis. At their last meeting much work was completed for
this special occasion. Please pray for the success of this Meeting of families and
for the success of Pope Francis’s visit among us. Please spend time in the presence
of the Blessed Sacrament each Friday. The Faith in a parish grows as the numbers
of people who pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament increases. Please give
some time to the Lord. He gives a lot to you. Psalm: Make sure to concentrate
on the Psalm in the reading today. A Psalm is a prayer. Fundraising Auction: We have received the steelwork
of a 32 foot long shed – 20ft wide x 10ft high with a 10ft x 10ft door opening in
gable. Also a jumping horse and some hens, ducks etc. Donations are very welcome
and if anyone has any Machinery, furniture, cars or other items to sell, the auctioneer
will sell them for you for a minimal fee. . Contact Ciaran on 07856 369616 for details.
See the pictures of the horses on Tempo Community Hall facebook page. St Mary’s Silver Band: urgently require new members in all our sections, i.e. cornets,
trombones and percussion to fill the gaps left by those who emigrated for work or
university. We appeal to past members to rejoin to help maintain this wonderful
historic organisation for future generations. You don’t have to be a trained musician
as free tuition and instruments will be provided during training. WELB students
will continue to receive top class tuition from Stephen Magee, WELB tutor. Come
along to the Old School on Friday at 7.00pm or contact any senior member of the
Band. |
