St Eugene's Cathedral Parish Newsletter | Vol. 45 No 33 Sunday, 19th August 2018 - 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time Diocesan Launch of the World Meeting of Families On Tuesday
evening, we will be hosting our Diocesan Celebration to launch the World Meeting
of Families. Bishop Donal will lead Evening Prayer at 7.00 pm, followed by Mass
at 7.30 pm. As part of our liturgy, we plan to have a collection of family photos
from across the parish. Please bring along a family photo and it will be displayed
during the celebration. We would encourage everyone to attend. Refreshments will
be served after Mass. Visit of Pope Francis to Knock Shrine, Sunday, 26th August: Practical Information Those
who have tickets to attend the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Knock Shrine
on Sunday, 26th August are advised to read the information available on the Knock
Shrine website regarding travel, parking and other practical information. The official
Traffic Plan is also available and can also be viewed at www.garda.ie. Pilgrims
are advised to study the plan in advance of travelling to the Shrine. Angelus text,
a hymn sheet and general guidance/information on the liturgical events will be available
for download/printing in the days prior to the event. This information, including
the full Spiritual Programme is available at www.knockshrine.ie/wmof2018 Alpha Programme: Have Questions About Life? Monday, 24th September St Eugene’s
Cathedral will be delivering the Alpha Course which seeks to introduce the basics
of the Christian faith through a series of talks and discussions. It is described
as ”an opportunity to explore the meaning of life”. Everyone is invited to attend.
Registration Forms are available at the back of the Cathedral. Please complete and
return to the Alpha Box at the back of the Church. All couples intending to get married here in St Eugene’s Cathedral must participate in a pre-marriage
course with ACCORD within six months of the marriage date. To book a course visit
www.accord.ie or email derry@accordni.com. If an ACCORD Pre-Marriage Course is unavailable
in your area, please contact St Eugene’s Cathedral before booking a course with
another provider. It is mandatory that all couples intending to celebrate their

of the city’s four main churches invite people to get on their bikes or put on their
walking/running shoes for the Tour de Foyle 1080 Charity Event, which will
begin at the Foyle Arena on Saturday, 25th August. The event is being organised
jointly by The Churches Trust and the North West Methodist Mission, and is supported
by church leaders in Derry. Now in its fifth year, the event has attracted
participants from far and wide, and organisers hope this year’s event will be bigger
and better than ever. The event caters for all with three aspects to choose from:
10k Walk: 10k Run: 80k Cycle. Registration details for the walk/run/cycle

in Malvern House on Monday at 1.30 pm. Ageless Grace is a chair based exercise programme
