Graveyard Sunday 2019

Graveyard Sunday will take place

next Sunday July 28th at 3.00pm in Cockhill and on

Sunday August 4th at 3.00pm in Desertegney.

This year the collection will be taken up during the Mass at the normal time, 

if anyone would like to help with the collection please contact the Parish Office.

There will be no 11am Mass in Cockhill or no 12.30pm Mass in The Oratory next weekend.

There will be no 10am Mass in Desertegney on August 4th.

Readings for 16th Sunday in ordinary time

Gn 18:1-10.This moment in salvation history has fired imaginations for 4000 years. Metaphorically, like a ‘gold-leaf-electroscope,’ Abraham was keenly alert, even in ‘the hottest part of the day,’ to the approach and presence of ‘The Holy.’ He wholeheartedly welcomed the three whom some believe to have been the Blessed Trinity. Abraham is recognized as the father of believers by Christian, Jew and Muslim.

Lk 10: 38-42. Referring to this passage St Theresa of Lisieux wrote: ‘The soul that is enfolded by divine love can’t remain inactive; though it may, like Mary, sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to those words of his, so full of fire, so full of comfort; not appearing to contribute anything, but really contributing so much more than Martha, as she hurries distractedly to and fro….’

GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) Programme:

This is a faith development programme we will be running in the parish for First Years in the autumn term. We need adult volunteers who will help with the delivery of the programme. No experience necessary as full training will be given. All volunteers must be Garda Vetted so if interested, please contact the Parish Office with your details and to receive vetting forms.
