Re-opening of our Parish Churches
-

Sunday, 28th June 2020 - 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

From Monday our Churches will be reopening for Mass and the sacraments. We welcome this, as many of you also will. However, this is the beginning of a phased re-opening that has the safety of you, the parishioners of Cappagh, at the forefront of our attention.

Please bear in mind that at this time there is no obligation to attend Mass on Sunday.  You may wish to attend any day during the week.

Initially, we are opening two of our Churches for weekend and daily Masses - St Mary’s, Killyclogher and Christ the King, Strathroy.  Each church has been arranged to accommodate at a social distancing of 2 metres. St Mary’s Killyclogher will accommodate 65 parishioners (taking a single seat) or up to around 100 (with couples and families). Overflow will be accommodated in the parish hall with live-stream of the mass on large screen (Saturday Vigil and Sunday morning mass only). Holy Communion will be brought to the hall. Christ the King will accommodate 110 parishioners (taking a single seat) or around 160 (with couples and families).  Ushers will be in attendance at each Mass to welcome our parishioners and show them to their seats.

For added reassurance, our Churches (and the parish hall) have been deep cleaned and sanitized by a process called ‘fogging’. This has been done by a company called ViroTech (NI) using Zoono Technology.  This process creates a membrane on all surfaces which destroys all viruses on contact, including Covid-19.  The product is safe and environmentally friendly. The company states that this protects for up to 30 days. This will be repeated monthly for as long as necessary. We will also continue with a regime of sanitizing our Churches each day, carried out by a generous team of parish volunteers.

Upon entering and leaving our Churches, your hands will be sanitized with an alcohol sanitizing spray (75% alcohol). You are welcome also to bring along your own sanitizer to use during Masses and other services.

Thank you to those who have volunteered to clean and to welcome and show people to their seats. We will need more volunteers, as this regime will more than likely be continuing for many months. It would be unfair to expect a few generous volunteers to continue without more help. Please consider giving some of your time to cleaning and/or ushering. Thank you.

Please bear in mind that it will take a little longer to seat people before Mass begins. We would appreciate your patience and cooperation by arriving in good time. We will endeavour to set aside pews for family groups.
