CONFIRMATION

This week we look forward to celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation which we were to celebrate on Thursday 23 April but it had to be postponed because of the Coronavirus shutdown. We thank our children and parents for their patience and care. We wanted to have the Sacrament before the children of P7, rang a seacht, go to their new college. Confirmation will be celebrated during Mass as follows:

Bunscoil Naomh Bríd

on Friday 14 August at 5pm in St Patrick’s Church, Glen

St Patrick’s PS Glen and St Brigid’s PS Tirkane

on Saturday 15 August at 3pm in St Patrick’s Church, Glen

St Mary’s PS , Glenview

on Sunday 16 August - at 3pm in St Mary’s Church, Maghera

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the child to be confirmed, their parents and one sponsor are invited to be present in the church. The ceremony will also be available to view via the church webcam. Children will be seated in the church in alphabetical order. A professional photographer will be available to capture the occasion in the church.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION - My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you now as if you were already there and I unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. AMEN

ACT OF CONSECREATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

In times of calamity and disaster such as the outbreak of a plague which in these days is called Covid 19 or Coronavirus – we take the advice and example of the Saints and consecrate our parish and our family and friends to the safety and Protection of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Lord Jesus, You are the Son of God. Hidden God, devoutly I adore you, truly present in this eucharist. Wonderful how God can be present in different ways. At the sound of a gentle breeze, Elijah covered his face with his cloak. In the force of the dark wind and in the chaos of the wet waves, Peter came to feel your saving power. Sometimes I get into difficulties and in the darkness am tempted to lose hope. May I always call out to you, ‘Lord, save me’.

REFLECTION

COURAGE! DO NOT BE AFRAID

Like Peter, we too have often set out confidently

across the waters of life.

However, as soon as the winds of trouble rise against us,

and the waves of adversity begin to buffet us,

we lose our nerve and begin to sink.

Lord, when our faith falters, as it often does,

may we hear your gentle voice saying to us,

‘Courage! Do not be afraid.’

In that moment, Lord,

may your divine power uphold us,

calm our fears, steady our nerves.

and enable us to steer our little boat

to a place of safety and peace,

beyond the wind and the waves.
