Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion 10th April 2022 Holy Week

of the Lord's Supper 8.00pm-9.00pm: Adoration at the Altar of Repose in the Day Chapel The 7.00pm Mass is the principal Mass for Holy Thursday and is the beginning of the Easter Triduum. Strictly speaking it should be the only Parish Mass today. We encourage people to come to this Mass. Good Friday (A Day of Fast and Abstinence) 10.00am: Morning Prayer 11.30am-12noon: Confessions 3.00pm: Celebration of the Lord's Passion 4.00pm-4.30pm: Confessions 7.00pm: Evening Service (followed by Confessions) Holy Saturday 10.00am: Morning Prayer 11.30am-12noon: Confessions 8.30pm: Mass of the Easter Vigil (Please bring a candle for renewal of Baptismal Promises) Please Note: There will not be Mass at 7.00pm this evening. Easter Sunday Masses: 8.30am; 10.30am; 12.30pm (Please note the extra Mass at 8.30am today). Holy Week and Easter are the most important times in the Church year. Possibly your Lent never got off the ground or maybe you failed in your resolutions at an early stage. Why not make the extra effort during this week to come to daily Mass or make some special sacrifice. May the Lord bless all those who attended Mass in such great numbers all during Lent. Thank you. Those who pay to the weekly collection or any special collections, including Priest’s Collection, by cheque are asked that all cheques should be made payable to ‘Melmount Parish’. Parishioners can still leave their contributions in the Parish Office during this time of uncertainty. Contributions can be made by cheque made payable to Melmount Parish or cash. If the Office is closed please use the letterbox. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in the church on Monday 11th April after 10.00am Mass until 6.00pm. Notices for the Bulletin Due to the Bank Holiday on Good Friday all anniversaries and notices for next week’s bulletin must be notified by 12 noon on Tuesday 12th April. Trócaire: Trócaire Collection boxes should be returned to the Church at any of the ceremonies for Holy Week or on Easter Sunday. It would be a great help if small coins could be changed for notes or pound coins. Because of banking requirements all cheques should be made payable to ‘Melmount Parish’. Taize Prayer Service led by Thornhill Ministries will take place in the Sacred Heart Church, Derry Road today Sunday 10th April at 6.00pm. Everyone is welcome. Collection Envelopes New envelopes are now in use. If anyone who has not been using envelopes would like a box please contact the Parish Office on 71383777. Anyone who pays income tax, even those who are retired but who receive a taxable pension, and who would like to consider being part of the Gift Aid Scheme by using an envelope, which is of tremendous benefit to the Parish, should contact the Parish Office on 71383777 for more information. Mass of Chrism will take place on Holy Thursday, 14th April at 10.00am in St. Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry. Bishop Donal McKeown will be the Principal Celebrant. All people of the diocese are invited to come and join in this celebration of the Eucharist. The bishop will bless the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick and the oil of Chrism, all of which are used for the celebration of the sacraments during the year. Baptism Dates April: Sunday 17th May: Saturday 7th; Saturday 21st; Sunday 29th June: Saturday 4th; Sunday 12th; Saturday 18th; Saturday 25th July: Sunday 3rd; Saturday 9th; Saturday 23rd; Saturday 30th Baptisms will be at 4.00pm on a Saturday and 1.15pm on a Sunday. Parish Draw 2022 Promoters should make their returns for April to the Parish Office tomorrow Monday 11th April from 2.00pm - 4.30pm. The draw for April will take place on Wednesday 13 April at 10.30am in the Parish Office. Blessing of Graves: The Annual Ceremony of the Blessing of the Graves will take place here in Melmount on Sunday 15th May at 4.00pm. Congratulations to the P.7 Children of the Gaelscoil who made their Confirmation last Saturday. We thank the teachers and parents for preparation of the children and all those who took part in the ceremony. Lough Derg Pilgrimage Season re-opens on Sunday 1st May. One Day Pilgrimages will take place on 1st, 2nd, 7th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th and 30th May. The Three-Day Pilgrimage will commence on Wednesday 1st June and continue until 15th August 2022. Admission for the one-day Pilgrimage is €45 and for the 3 Day Pilgrimage €80 Euro.
