Holy Week Ceremonies 2022 The parish celebration of Reconciliation (Confessions) in preparation for Easter takes place in St. Patrick’s on this Palm Sunday evening (April 10th) at 7.30pm.
The reduced number of priests available for active pastoral ministry across the parishes, will mean that not all churches/parishes will have the full schedule of Holy Week Ceremonies as in previous years. It will mean parishioners having to move to a neighbouring church or parish for some of the Holy Week Liturgies. The schedule for the Holy Week Ceremonies, across the 5 parishes, is as follows:
Holy Thursday, April 14th - Evening Masses of the Lord’s Supper Ballintra 6pm / Ballybay 7.30pm / Annyalla 7.30pm / Latton 7.30pm / Lough Egish 7.30pm / Castleblayney 7.30pm.
Good Friday, April 15th - Celebration of the Lord’s Passion. Ballybay 3pm / Tullycorbet 7.30pm / Doohamlet 7.30pm / Bawn 7.30pm / Carrickatee 3pm / Castleblayney 3pm. Holy Saturday, April 16th - Easter Vigils (in 3 of the 5 parishes) - Ballybay 8pm / Carrickatee 8pm / Castleblayney 8pm Easter

Latton 10am / Oram 10am / Bawn 11.30am / Lough Egish 11.30am /

The Church will remain open until 10.30pm, during which time parishioners are invited to come and keep watch with the Lord in prayer, in preparation for Good Friday when Jesus offers his life on the Cross of Calvary for the Salvation of the World.
In addition to the Reconciliation Service in St. Patrick’s on this Palm Sunday evening at 7.30pm - other times for Confession in St. Patrick’s are as follows: Tuesday, 12th April at 12noon and Holy Saturday, 16th April at 12noon.
Mass of Chrism: For the first time since 2019, the Mass of Chrism will be celebrated on Holy Thursday, April 14th at 11am in St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan. You are invited to join Bishop Larry Duffy and the people of our Diocese in this celebration. The Mass of Chrism is a gathering of the entire diocese, bishop, priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful. It is an occasion during which the bishop blesses the holy oils and consecreates the oil of chrism. These will be used in the celebration of the sacraments in the year ahead. At the Mass, the priests will also renew their promises to serve God and his people. The two oils that are blessed at the Chrism Mass: that of the Sick and that of Catechumens are then used in the year ahead for the Anointing of the Sick and the Anointing of those to be Baptised. The Oil of Chrism is consecrated for use in the Anointing of those being Confirmed in our parishes.
Parishioners (when attending Mass & other liturgies) are encouraged to continue with the practice of sanitising their hands and wearing the face coverings. Thank you!
Trócaire’s Lenten Appeal 2022 Having responded generously to the Ukraine Special Appeal, our attention must now focus on the 2022 Lent Campaign to protect the ongoing work of Trócaire, and help families around the world who risk being left behind, like Thandekile and her beautiful children in rural Zimbabwe, who are featured on your Lenten Fast Boxes.
A
number of people have already returned their Trócaire Purple Envelope
and so we again urge parishioners to place the Purple Envelope in the
collection box in the porch of the Church at any of the Holy Week Liturgies between
now and Easter Sunday.
